Purple Fair 2025 Launched in Goa to Celebrate Inclusion

The spirit of inclusion came alive in Goa as Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant inaugurated the 3rd edition of the International Purple Fair 2025 – Celebrating Diversity. The event, organized to showcase the talent, entrepreneurship, and empowerment of persons with disabilities (PwDs), underscores India’s journey towards an inclusive and accessible society.

• The Purple Fair has evolved into a flagship festival symbolizing dignity, innovation, and equality for all.

Highlights of the Inaugural Event

• Speaking at the inauguration, Dr. Pramod Sawant emphasized that the festival has become a symbol of empowerment, showcasing the potential and creativity of persons with disabilities.
• He reiterated Goa’s commitment to creating a society where inclusion is not just policy but a mindset.
• Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Dr. Virendra Kumar lauded the changing perception of disability, highlighting that PwDs are no longer seen merely as beneficiaries but as professionals, entrepreneurs, and active contributors.

Collaboration and Participation

• The Purple Fair 2025 was organized by the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, the Directorate of Social Welfare, and the Entertainment Society of Goa, in collaboration with the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India.
• The event featured partnerships with NCPEDP, Saksham, Bookshare, DAIG, Rising Flame, and United Nations India.
