  • Two prestigious Indian institutions, IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi, showcased their academic strength by securing positions within the top 50.
  • IIT Bombay, maintaining its status as India’s leading institution, secured an impressive 40th position in the Asian rankings.

  • IIT Delhi secured the 46th rank, IIT Madras stood at 53rd, IISc claimed the 52nd position, IIT Kharagpur was positioned 61st, and Delhi University secured a spot in the rankings.
  • IIT Bombay demonstrated outstanding performance with an overall score of 67.2 out of 100.

Outstanding Performance Indicators for IIT Bombay

  • IIT Bombay excelled in academic reputation (83.5) and employer reputation (96) and also performed well in faculty-student ratio (14.8), staff with a PhD (100), and papers per faculty (95.7), among other indicators.
  • Notably, IIT Bombay’s staff with PhD credentials emerged as its strongest indicator. Moreover, IIT Bombay secured the 149th position in the QS World Rankings 2024.

A Balanced Performance Trend

  • An in-depth analysis of the rankings reveals a balanced performance trend, with more than half of the ranked universities either maintaining their position, improving, or declining in comparison to last year’s rankings.

  • The methodology used for these rankings is akin to that of the QS World University Rankings, with additional indicators and adapted weightings.
  • There are 11 indicators employed in compiling the QS Asia University Rankings.
  • These encompass academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty-student ratio, international research network, citations per paper, papers per faculty, staff with a PhD, proportion of international faculty, proportion of international students, proportion of inbound exchange students, and proportion of outbound exchange students.
