In a major leadership announcement, Britannia Industries, one of India’s leading FMCG and food companies, has named Rakshit Hargave as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Executive Director for a five-year term. The appointment will take effect from December 15, 2025, following approval from company members, according to a stock exchange filing. This move marks a significant leadership transition at Britannia, as Hargave brings with him decades of experience across global consumer brands and successful business transformations.
Prior to this appointment, Rakshit Hargave served as the CEO of Birla Opus, the paints division of the Aditya Birla Group. Joining the company in November 2021, he played a key role in the startup and scaling phase of Birla Opus, building six integrated manufacturing facilities and expanding nationwide distribution and supply chain networks.

Rakshit Hargave holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from IIT Varanasi and an MBA from the Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), Delhi. His alma mater, IIT Varanasi, honoured him with the Distinguished Young Alumni Award for his remarkable professional achievements.
Britannia’s board stated that Hargave’s appointment aligns with the company’s long-term strategic goals of strengthening leadership and accelerating growth in both domestic and international markets.
In the interim, Himanshu Kapania, Managing Director of Britannia Industries, will oversee operations until Hargave assumes office. The board also expressed gratitude for his predecessor’s contributions and confidence in Hargave’s ability to lead Britannia into its next phase of growth.
