CSIR-Indian Institute of Petroleum (CSIR-IIP), Dehradun celebrated Rashtriya Boudhik Sampada Mahotsav (RBSM) 2025 on 29th May to spread awareness about Intellectual Property (IP). This event is part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav initiative and was first started in July 2023 to promote the importance of protecting new ideas and innovations.
The programme started with lamp lighting and Saraswati Vandana, showing respect to knowledge and wisdom. This was followed by opening remarks by Dr. Deepti Agrawal, who is the In-charge of the Intellectual Property Management Group (IPMG) at CSIR-IIP.
Dr. Harender Singh Bisht, the Director of CSIR-IIP, gave a brief and encouraging address. He spoke about the importance of protecting inventions and promoting innovation.
The main speaker of the event was Dr. Kapil Arya from CSIR-Innovation Protection Unit, New Delhi. He delivered a very interesting and easy-to-understand talk on ”Feel the Beat of Intellectual Property Rights.” He explained the basics of patents and why they are important for researchers and inventors. After the talk, he had an interactive session with scientists and research scholars.
Dr. N. Vishwanatham, Chairman of the Patent and Publication Committee (PPC), shared his experiences and insights. He talked about how the committee works and how CSIR-IIP has developed many innovative technologies over the years.
To make the event more engaging, an online quiz on Intellectual Property was also conducted. It helped participants test their knowledge in a fun and educational way.
