Renowned British Novelist Jeffrey Archer Dies at 86
Renowned British novelist and former politician Jeffrey Archer passed away on 5 October 2026 at the age of 86. His publisher, HarperCollins, confirmed that he died suddenly and peacefully at his home.
Archer was one of Britain’s most successful popular fiction writers, with a writing career spanning about five decades. His books sold more than 300 million copies worldwide and were published across more than 100 countries.
Jeffrey Archer began his career as a novelist with Not a Penny More, Not a Penny Less, published in 1976. He later became internationally known for bestselling novels and series such as:

Apart from being an author, Archer was also associated with British politics. He served as a Conservative Member of Parliament for five years and later became Deputy Chairman of the Conservative Party. He was made a life peer in 1992 and served in the House of Lords until his retirement in 2024.
