Rohit Sharma Reaches 12,000 ODI Runs and 200 Sixes in One Country
Indian batsman Rohit Sharma crossed the 12,000 ODI runs mark in the second ODI match against the West Indies at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on September 30, 2026. He became only the third Indian batter, after Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli, to be part of the 12,000 run-club. Rohit reached the record in 282 innings, which makes him the second-fastest batter to do so behind Kohli, who reached the feat in 242 innings.
Rohit Sharma got to the 12,000 ODI run mark off a single delivered by the captain of West Indies, Roston Chase, in the 16th over of the innings.

Batter Innings to 12,000 ODI Runs
Rohit made 101 runs from 75 balls, hitting ten fours and six sixes in his innings, which turned out to be his 35th ODI century.
Also, Rohit achieved a unique ODI record in that innings. He became the first batsman to hit 200 sixes in one country’s ODI cricket.
This came when he was batting for India against West Indies in India. Previously, West Indies legend Chris Gayle held this record after hitting 147 ODI sixes in a single country.
Moreover, Rohit holds the record for most six-hits in the history of men’s ODI cricket due to his attacking batting.
Rohit Sharma and India’s captain Shubman Gill made another significant record in the match through their 255-run opening stand.
This is the second-highest opening partnership for India in men’s ODIs. Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly have the record for highest opening partnership in India after scoring 258 runs against Kenya in 2001 in Paarl.
So far, Rohit-Gill have aggregated 3058 runs in 47 ODIs together with nine hundred and 16 fifty-plus stands.
