Russia-China and South Africa starts joint military exercise

In what some nations claim is an endorsement of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, South Africa is beginning a joint military drill with Russia and China. The 10-day naval exercises, which will go on the first anniversary of the war in Ukraine, have drawn criticism from the US as well. The South African government, however, insists that it is still impartial in the conflict and that it frequently hosts such exercises with other nations, such as France and the US.

  • The 10-day naval exercises, which will go on on the first anniversary of the war in Ukraine, have drawn criticism from the US as well.

  • Off the coast of South Africa, in the Indian Ocean, are the Mosi II naval drills.
  • 350 personnel of the South African National Defence Force, according to the organisation, will participate.
  • The Admiral Gorshkov cruiser, which is equipped with Zircon hypersonic missiles, will be sent, according to a Russian announcement.
  • They have a 1,000 km range and travel at nine times the speed of sound (620 miles).
