Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar, known as the ”Master Blaster,” ”Little Master” and ”God of Cricket,’‘ is one of the greatest cricketers in the history of the game. Born on April 24, 1973, in Mumbai, India, Sachin inspired millions with his exceptional talent and dedication to cricket. Sachin was born into a Brahmin family in Dadar, Mumbai. His father, Ramesh Tendulkar, was a Marathi poet and his mother, Rajni Tendulkar, worked in the insurance industry. He has two half-brothers, Nitin and Ajit and one half-sister, Savita. Sachin’s passion for cricket started at an early age. His elder brother, Ajit, recognized his potential and took him to cricket training at Ramakant Achrekar’s academy in Mumbai. His international debut followed shortly after, on December 18, 1989, when he played his first One Day International (ODI) against Pakistan. In his Test debut on November 15, 1989, he also faced Pakistan. Over the next two decades, Sachin continued to set new records and establish himself as one of the best batsman in the world.
He became the first player in history to score 100 international centuries and was the first to cross 34,000 runs in all formats of cricket. One of his most emotional moments came when he helped India win the 2011 World Cup, scoring runs in the tournament.
Sachin met Anjali Tendulkar at the Mumbai International Airport after his first international tour. Anjali, who didn’t know much about cricket, was introduced by a common friend. They soon became close and after dating for five years, they married on May 24, 1995. The couple has two children: Sara and Arjun.
