SAI and IIT Delhi Join Forces to Boost Sports Innovation
Marking a strategic leap for sports science and innovation in India, the Sports Authority of India’s National Centre of Sports Science Research (SAI-NCSSR) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi. The initiative aims to integrate cutting-edge science and indigenous innovation into sports performance, in alignment with the government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat and Garv se Swadeshi visions.
The MoU, signed on September 9, 2025, was overseen by Union Sports Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, who highlighted that the collaboration symbolizes the government’s focus on making Indian athletes globally competitive through scientific support. The initiative prioritizes the development of indigenous sports equipment, reducing dependency on imports and encouraging Swadeshi solutions.
