Sanchar Mobile App Launched: Know How Many Language Does It Supports?

To enhance its reach across India’s diverse linguistic landscape, Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia today launched the Sanchar Saathi mobile app in Hindi and 21 regional languages. The expansion ensures that people from different regions of the country can access the app’s services more conveniently, strengthening efforts against telecom-related cyber frauds.

About the Sanchar Saathi App

The Sanchar Saathi mobile app, first introduced in January 2025, has quickly gained popularity, with over 46 lakh downloads to date. The app empowers mobile users with tools to protect themselves against fraudulent activities in the telecom sector.

Key Features of the App

  • Report Suspicious Communications: Users can report calls and messages suspected to be fraudulent.
  • Trace or Block Lost/Stolen Phones: A key feature allows users to track or block their stolen or lost mobile devices, reducing the misuse of stolen phones.
  • Check for Unauthorized Connections: Subscribers can verify if their identity has been misused for obtaining unauthorized mobile connections.
  • This expansion into multiple languages ensures that the benefits of the app reach rural and semi-urban populations, who are often more vulnerable to telecom fraud.

Stakeholder Participation in the Launch Event

The launch took place at a stakeholders’ meeting in New Delhi, where discussions centered on strengthening the country’s fight against cyber fraud.

Participants included,

  • Law enforcement agencies for legal and investigative support.
  • Telecom service providers to ensure coordinated action against fraudulent connections.
  • Financial institutions to address financial fraud linked to mobile scams.
  • Civil society organizations for spreading awareness among the masses.

Technical teams and web developers of the Sanchar Saathi initiative, along with senior officials from the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), the Railway Protection Force (RPF), and the Department of Telecommunications (DoT).

Significance of the Initiative

  • Wider Accessibility: By offering the app in multiple Indian languages, the government ensures inclusive digital access.
  • Curbing Cyber Frauds: The app acts as a crucial tool to combat rising incidents of telecom-related cyber crimes, such as phishing and identity theft.
  • Empowering Citizens: It empowers people with digital self-defense tools, reducing dependency on lengthy official procedures.
  • National Digital Security: Strengthens India’s broader mission of building a secure and resilient telecom ecosystem.
