Satwik-Chirag Create History, Win Singapore Open 2026 Men's Doubles Title
Indian Badminton duo Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty have won the Singapore Open 2026 men’s doubles title. This victory not just ended their two-year wait for the BWF World Tour trophy but also created history as they have became the first Indian doubles pair to win the prestigious Singapore Open.
Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty etched their names in the Indian badminton history by winning the Singapore Open 2026 men’s doubles title. The Indian pair defeated the world No. 3 Indonesians Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri in the exciting final which had lasted 73 minutes.
The victory marked the India’s first-ever Singapore Open title in the doubles category and added the another prestigious achievement to the duo’s growing list of international successes.
The championship match tested the resilience and fighting spirit of the Indian pair. After losing the opening set 18-21, Satwik and Chirag have bounced back strongly to win the next two games with the score of 21-17 and 21-16.

In first set of the game both duo put up the close fight. However, the Indonesian pair had gained the momentum at the crucial stage and won four consecutive points to secure the opening game.
In the second game, Satwik and Chirag took control after the brilliant six-point streak and creating enough separation to level the match. In the decider set Indian duo maintain their advantage despite the late fightback from the Indonesians pair and eventually sealed the title with confident attacking play.
The Singapore Open triumph ended the long wait for the Indian pair. Their last BWF World Tour title came at the Thailand Open in the year 2024.
Since then, Satwik and Chirag had reached to the several finals but they were unable to convert those opportunities into titles.
Significance of the Victory
This title became only India’s second BWF World Tour victory of 2026. Earlier in the season, Devika Sihag won the women’s singles title at the Thailand Masters Super 300.
Satwik and Chirag’s achievement further strengthens the India’s growing reputation in the world badminton and highlights the country’s increasing success in doubles competition.
