South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), a Chhattisgarh-based subsidiary of Coal India, has opened its fourth AMRIT (Affordable Medicines and Reliable Implants for Treatment) Pharmacy, making it the first coal company to do so. This 216th AMRIT pharmacy, located at SECL’s Health Centre in Indira Vihar Colony, Bilaspur, will provide generic and life-saving medicines at highly subsidized rates, benefiting SECL employees, the general public, and underserved tribal and rural communities. This initiative aligns with the government’s Special Campaign 4.0 to promote inclusivity and improve access to healthcare.
Launched in 2015 by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, AMRIT pharmacies offer discounted medicines, implants, and surgical consumables. SECL’s four pharmacies are located in Bilaspur, Gevra (Korba district, CG), Sohagpur (Shahdol district, MP), and Chirimiri (Manendragarh-Chirimiri-Bharatpur district, CG), focusing on critical conditions such as cancer and cardiovascular diseases.
Dr. Prem Sagar Mishra, CMD of SECL, emphasized the company’s commitment to providing affordable healthcare to its employees and local communities, contributing to the judicious use of medical resources and reducing medical reimbursement costs.
The new pharmacy, built by utilizing vacant space under Special Campaign 4.0, highlights SECL’s adoption of best practices, ensuring enhanced healthcare access for both SECL employees and the surrounding tribal and rural populations.
