India marked a significant milestone at the FISU World University Games 2025, held in Rhine-Ruhr, Germany, as swimmers Srihari Nataraj and B. Benediction Rohit achieved record-breaking performances in their respective events. The World University Games, also known as the FISU Games, are a prestigious international multi-sport event for university athletes. The 2025 edition is hosted by Rhine-Ruhr, Germany, and includes over 150 countries participating across disciplines, offering a platform for young athletes to showcase their talent globally.
Srihari Nataraj broke his own Best Indian Performance in the men’s 200m freestyle by clocking 1:48.22, surpassing his earlier mark of 1:48.66 set just a month ago. Similarly, Benediction Rohit created history by becoming the first Indian male swimmer to complete 50m butterfly in under 24 seconds, registering a time of 23.96 seconds in the semifinals. These feats underscore the rising standards of Indian swimming.
These record-breaking performances serve as an inspiration for aspiring swimmers and highlight the importance of professional training and global exposure.
