This accounts for 57.9% of India’s total cumin production. Major regions in Gujarat, like Banaskantha and Patan, are known for high-quality cumin cultivation.

Rajasthan

Rajasthan comes second in cumin production in India. The state produces 3,03,500 tons of cumin each year, making up 14% of the country’s total production. The dry, hot climate of Rajasthan, especially in districts like Jodhpur and Barmer, makes it ideal for cumin farming.

West Bengal

West Bengal ranks third in cumin production, though its contribution is much smaller compared to Gujarat and Rajasthan. The state produces 1,510 tons of cumin annually, which is only 0.2% of India’s overall cumin production.

Madhya Pradesh

Madhya Pradesh is another significant cumin producer. The state produces 330 tons of cumin each year, which makes up 0.1% of India’s total cumin production. Although not as large as Gujarat or Rajasthan, the favorable weather in areas like Neemuch helps produce good cumin yields.

Karnataka

Karnataka ranks fifth among the top cumin-producing states in India. The state produces around 40 tons of cumin annually. While it has a smaller share of the overall cumin production, areas like Hassan contribute to its yield.
