Two Consecutive Successful Flight Tests of Pralay Missile Conduct By DRDO
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully conducted two consecutive flight tests of the Pralay missile on July 28 and 29, 2025, from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island, Odisha. These user evaluation trials validated the missile’s maximum and minimum range capabilities, confirming its high accuracy and reliability. The indigenously developed Pralay missile, equipped with state-of-the-art guidance and navigation systems, can carry multiple types of warheads, significantly strengthening the Indian Armed Forces’ operational readiness.
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced that DRDO carried out two back-to-back successful flight tests of the Pralay missile on July 28 and 29, 2025, from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island, situated off the coast of Odisha. These trials were conducted as part of user evaluation exercises, aimed at validating both the maximum and minimum range capabilities of the missile system.
According to the statement, the missile successfully followed the intended trajectory and hit the designated target point with pinpoint accuracy, meeting all set objectives. Advanced tracking sensors deployed by the Integrated Test Range (ITR), including instruments positioned on a nearby ship, verified the missile’s performance.
The Pralay missile is a solid propellant, quasi-ballistic missile developed indigenously by DRDO. Some of its major features include,
The test launches were attended by senior DRDO scientists, representatives from the Indian Air Force and Indian Army, and officials from defence industry partners. Their presence underlined the importance of the tests as a major step toward the future induction of the system into India’s defence arsenal.
The successful testing of the Pralay missile follows another significant achievement. On July 25, 2025, DRDO successfully tested the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Launched Precision Guided Missile (ULPGM)-V3 at the National Open Area Range (NOAR) in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh.
The ULPGM-V3, an upgraded version of the ULPGM-V2, comes equipped with,
These continuous achievements showcase DRDO’s commitment to strengthening India’s defence ecosystem through indigenous innovation and advanced technological development.
