UP CM Launches Hot Cooked Meal Scheme in Anganwadi Centers

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has unveiled the ‘Hot Cooked Meal Scheme’ in Uttar Pradesh, a landmark initiative aimed to providing nutritious meals to children aged 3 to 6 years at Anganwadis. The scheme, modeled after the successful Midday Meals program, is designed to offer 70 grams of food grains per beneficiary per day in the form of hot-cooked meals. Additionally, Adityanath laid the foundation stone for 3,401 Anganwadi centers and inaugurated a transit hostel for police personnel during the event.

Inauguration of the Hot Cooked Meal Scheme

The Chief Minister inaugurated the scheme at the composite school in Ayodhya Police Lines. He actively participated in the event by visiting classrooms, interacting with children, inquiring about their education and school uniforms and personally serving food to the children. The initiative collaborative efforts from Anganwadi centers, as well as the kitchens of primary and upper primary schools, to prepare and serve meals to children.

Infrastructure Development

Adityanath laid the foundation stone for 3,401 Anganwadi centers in 35 districts, with an estimated investment of Rs.403 crore. This significant step aims to strengthen the foundation of early childhood education and nutrition in the state. Additionally, he inaugurated a transit hostel for police personnel at Ayodhya Reserve Police Lines, emphasizing the government’s commitment to providing quality living facilities for law enforcement officers.

Inter-Departmental Coordination

In his address, the Chief Minister highlighted the importance of inter-departmental coordination in the successful implementation of government schemes. He drew attention to the effective collaboration that led to the eradication of encephalitis in eastern Uttar Pradesh, showcasing the positive impact of coordinated efforts in public health initiatives.

Impact on Child Nutrition

Adityanath stated that the Hot Cooked Meal Scheme would benefit around 80 lakh children aged 3 to 6 years in the state. He emphasized the role of well-nourished and healthy children in building a stronger India. The Chief Minister acknowledged the progress made in child nutrition over the past 6-7 years, including a reduction in anemia and underweight cases and a decline in infant mortality rates.

Incentives and Responsibilities

To encourage the successful implementation of the new initiative, an additional incentive of 0.50 rupees per child per working day will be provided to helpers under the PM POSHAN scheme. Anganwadi helpers will be responsible for the timely delivery of meals to centers and maintaining cleanliness. The Department of Child Development Services and Nutrition will supply necessary ingredients for meal preparation.

Infrastructure Boost for Police Officers

In a parallel development, Chief Minister Adityanath inaugurated modern residences for police officers in Ayodhya, highlighting the government’s commitment to providing quality living conditions for law enforcement. He announced plans for constructing high-quality buildings for police officers across all police lines in the state.
