Veteran Spinner Dilip Doshi Dies Aged 77 in London
Dilip Doshi, one of India’s most skillful left-arm spinners and a prominent cricketing figure from the early 1980s, passed away on June 23, 2025, in London at the age of 77, reportedly due to heart-related complications. Known for his classical bowling action and intellectual approach to spin bowling, Doshi represented India in 33 Tests and 15 ODIs, and made a lasting impact despite debuting internationally at the relatively late age of 32.
Dilip Doshi’s demise has drawn heartfelt tributes from across the cricketing world. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) expressed deep sorrow, with President Roger Binny hailing Doshi as a “true artist of spin bowling” and a “gentleman both on and off the field”. His death marks the end of an era and rekindles memories of India’s rich spin bowling legacy.
