Vimarsh 2023 5G Hackathon
The Vimarsh 2023 5G Hackathon, a collaborative effort between Telecom Centres of Excellence (TCoE) India under the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D), Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), aimed to revolutionize Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) operations. This initiative sought to explore groundbreaking solutions and promote innovation within the law enforcement domain.
In the final phase of screening, held at the IIT Madras 5G Testbed on 21st and 22nd February 2024, 22 out of 23 startups and institutes showcased their Use Case Proof of Concepts (PoC). Esteemed Jury Members from various institutions evaluated the presentations, both physically and virtually.
The Jury meticulously assessed a variety of innovative solutions, including Automated drones for surveillance, AR/VR applications in law enforcement, Surveillance & Investigation tools, Evidence collection technologies, Emergency response systems, Intelligent Traffic Management solutions, 5G metadata analysis techniques, Geo-fencing applications, and AI-based FIR filing systems.
Notable solutions that emerged from the Hackathon included Drone-based surveillance systems for enhanced security, AI-assisted FIR filing mechanisms for efficiency, Geo-fencing solutions for crime scene investigation, AR-based training platforms for skill development, and AI-based data analytics for predictive policing.
Vimarsh 2023 endeavors to devise India-tailored scenarios for Law Enforcement Agencies leveraging the potentials of 5G and beyond. The hackathon aims to foster the creation of prospective solutions, concepts, and prototypes, including Minimum Viable Products, to equip Law Enforcement Agencies in combating cybercrime and cybersecurity challenges within the ever-evolving realm of 5G communication technology.
