What Is Amrit Bharat Station Scheme? Govt’s Plan to Upgrade Railway Infrastructure Explained

To modernize the railway infrastructure the Union Government has rolls out the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. Under this scheme it will targeting the redevelopment of 1338 railway stations across the country. This Scheme implemented by the Ministry of Railways and it will aims to upgrade stations with modern facilities alongside improved connectivity and the good passenger experience.

Scheme Coverage & Key Stations in Delhi

Under this scheme several stations across the various states have been identified. With this total 13 major railway stations in Delhi are being redeveloped to meet the rising demand of the passengers.

These redevelopment include the stations like

  • New Delhi Railway Station
  • Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station
  • Delhi Junction Railway Station
  • Anand Vihar Terminal

Also the other stations such as Delhi Cantt, Safdarjung, Narela, Sabzi Mandi and Tilak Bridge are also part of the redevelopment plan.

What Changes Will Passengers See at Redeveloped Stations

The scheme will be focuses on to providing modern and world-class facilities to passengers. This redevelopment is based on to the customized master plans for individual station.

The key improvements will include better station access, wider foot overbridges and clean and enhanced facility waiting areas.

Passengers will benefitted from the modern toilets, lifts, escalators and comfortable seating arrangements.

Additionally stations will also feature the digital information systems, executive lounges and better signage to travel more efficient.

Smart Features and Integrated Urban Development

One of the most important aspect of the scheme is to focus on connecting the railway stations with city infrastructure like bus and metro stations.

These stations are being redesigned as multi-modal transport hubs and they will connecting railways with buses, metros and other transport systems.

This ensures smoother movement of the passengers and reduces congestion on several platfoms.

Under the ‘One Station One Product’ initiative it will promote the local economies where local goods and handicrafts are showcased and sold at stations.

Focus on Sustainability and Modern Technology

The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme also emphasizes eco friendly and sustainable development.

  • Energy efficient systems on station
  • Improved the waste management
