Who is Anita Chaudhary? Conservation work, anti-poaching efforts and WWF award explained

At the age of the 30 Anita Chaudhary has become the symbol of courage and conservation. She was posted at the Shergarh Wildlife Sanctuary and rescued the nearly 500 animals since 2021. She also had taken the strong action against poachers, smugglers and the illegal miners. Recently she has been recognized with the prestigious WWF ‘Machchli National Award’ and this award recognized her relentless efforts to protect the wildlife and preserve the fragile ecosystems.

A Decade of Service in Wildlife Protection

She has been serving in the Shergarh Sanctuary for nearly 10 years. Anita Chaudhary has emerged as the symbol of commitment in the wildlife conservation. Her work also involves as both the protecting endangered species and also ensuring the human wildlife conflict management.

Over the years, she has,

  • Rescued has more than 500 wild animals
  • Also handled the dangerous species including crocodiles
  • And responded to the high-risk rescue situations alone in forest areas

Her efforts shows  not just professionalism but also the exceptional bravery and dedication.

Guarding Shergarh: A Tough Terrain

The Shergarh sanctuary has spread across nearly 9,880 hectares and it is home to the diverse wildlife including leopards, sloth bears, hyenas, wild boars, chinkaras and the sambar deer. This region lies between Rajasthan’s dry terrain and Madhya Pradesh’s forest belt and it will making it ecologically significant.

When she was arrived at the sanctuary the forest faced heavy human interference like,

  • Grazing and woodcutting
  • The illegal hunting
  • And smuggling of the forest produce like tendu patta

She took the strong action started with strict enforcement.

Strict Action and Measurable Results

Anita Chaudhary’s approach has been bold and uncompromising with her ethics. Under her watch,

  • 50+ FIRs have been registered against the poachers
  • Also the illegal mining and smuggling activities have reduced
  • The fines were imposed on the violators created deterrence

Her efforts also included the creating the water sources like check dams and ponds to prevent the animals from leaving the sanctuary.

Recognition and Inspiration

Anita Chaudhary have earned her the WWF Machchli National Award and this award named after the famous tigress of Ranthambore.

This award is not only honors her achievements but also highlights the importance of the grassroots conservation efforts.

Anita has become the mentor and inspiration to younger guards and inspired them to understand and respect the forest ecosystem.
