WTO MC14 2026 Explained: Agenda, Issues, and Global Trade Impact

The 14th Ministerial Conference (MC14) of the World Trade Organization (WTO) has officially begun on 26 March 2026 in Yaounde in Cameroon. In the MC14 it will be bringing together ministers from over 160 member countries. This four day conference set to be chaired by Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana. It aims to address the pressing issues in global trade and plan the future direction of the multilateral trading system. This gathering comes at a time when the global economy faces the rising geopolitical tensions, slowing growth and and main disruptions in supply chains.

The agenda o the conference will reflects the evolving the nature of global trade. Several discussions are set to be focused on WTO reforms and the dispute settlement mechanisms and emerging areas like digital trade and investment facilitation.

On the opening day the ministers participated in sessions on WTO’s foundational issues and it followed by detailed discussions on reform.

The major highlight is the push to revive the dispute settlement system because it have faced challenges in recent years.
