Aadhaar Records Nearly 230 Crore Authentication Transactions in June 2025
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) reported a total of 229.33 crore Aadhaar authentication transactions in June 2025, highlighting the growing reliance on Aadhaar for digital identity verification across sectors. This figure marks a 7.8 percent increase over the transactions recorded in June 2024, emphasizing Aadhaar’s growing role in the country’s digital transformation and economic activities.
With the June 2025 figures included, the total number of Aadhaar authentication transactions has now surpassed 15,452 crore since the system’s inception. This continued growth showcases Aadhaar’s integral role in facilitating access to services and welfare delivery in India.
The significant rise in monthly authentication numbers indicates that Aadhaar-based verification has become a key enabler of digital public infrastructure. It allows individuals to voluntarily access services, authenticate identity in real-time, and receive government benefits without hurdles. Aadhaar has become an essential tool in delivering ease of living for millions of Indian citizens.
One of the standout developments is the surge in AI-based Face Authentication. In June 2025, a record 15.87 crore face authentication transactions were completed, compared to just 4.61 crore in June 2024.
This remarkable growth highlights increasing trust and comfort with biometric face recognition technology, which has now crossed 175 crore transactions cumulatively. Developed in-house by UIDAI, this AI and Machine Learning-powered modality enables users to verify their identity using only a facial scan, offering a highly secure and seamless experience.
The solution is compatible with both Android and iOS platforms, and is being widely adopted due to its simplicity and enhanced security protocols.
Currently, more than 100 government and private entities are leveraging face authentication. These include:
Central ministries and departments
Financial institutions and banks
Oil marketing companies
Telecom service providers
The technology is helping to ensure efficient, paperless, and secure delivery of services and subsidies, further reducing the need for physical documentation or manual verifications.
In addition to authentication, Aadhaar continues to play a pivotal role in e-KYC (electronic Know Your Customer) transactions. Over 39.47 crore e-KYC transactions were recorded in June 2025, helping banks, non-banking financial institutions, and other service providers to verify users instantly, improve customer experience, and enhance operational efficiency.
