Adani Group Launches South Asia's Largest Ammunition and Missiles Complex in U.P.
In a significant development for India’s defense sector, the Adani Group has inaugurated the Ammunition & Missiles Complex in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. This complex, owned by Adani Defence, marks the first phase of the state’s defense corridor and is dedicated to the brave warriors of the Balakot strike.
Inauguration: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, along with Chief of Army Staff Gen Manoj Pande, inaugurated the complex.
Investment: Adani Defence plans to invest over Rs 3000 crore in the complex, showcasing India’s stride towards self-reliance and technological advancement in defense.
Size: Spread across 500 acres, the complex is set to become one of the largest integrated ammunition manufacturing facilities in South Asia.
Current Output: The facility has already commenced production of small calibre ammunition, with an initial output of 150 million rounds, fulfilling 25% of India’s annual requirement.
Memorandum of Understanding: In 2022, the Uttar Pradesh Industrial Development Authority (UPIDA) signed MoUs with Adani Aerospace and Defence, among other firms, to establish Kanpur as South Asia’s premier manufacturing hub for arms and ammunition.
Expansion Plans: Adani Defence System and Technologies Limited (ADSTL) acquired 202 hectares of land and laid out plans to develop four manufacturing units equipped with cutting-edge technology to produce small and medium calibre ammunition.
