In the singles rubbers, world No. 1 Swiatek showcased her prowess by defeating Angelique Kerber in a high-quality match. The 22-year-old Polish player dominated with a 6-3, 6-0 victory in 70 minutes, setting the stage for an intense final showdown.
Zverev faced a challenging task, saving two match points against Hurkacz to level the tie. The German player exhibited resilience, winning 6-7(3), 7-6(6), 6-4 and forcing the match into a decider. Zverev’s remarkable comeback set the stage for an epic mixed doubles finale.
Hurkacz put up a tough fight, pushing Zverev in a physically demanding opening set. Despite saving two match points, including a sublime forehand pass, Zverev secured the win and forced the mixed doubles decider, ultimately leading Germany to United Cup glory.
