Arjun & Ishaan Dominate MRF F2000 as MRF 2025 Kicks Off at Kari Motor Speedway

Teen Talent in the Spotlight

The spotlight of the 2025 season opener fell on two 16-year-olds: Ishaan Madesh from Bengaluru and Arjun Chheda from Pune, who split victories in the MRF Formula 2000 races. Arjun had earlier won Race-1 on Saturday, while Ishaan claimed Race-2 on Sunday. Their performances reflect a strong entry of Gen-Z racers into elite motorsport.

In the MRF Formula 1600 category, Bengalureans Arjun Nair (20) and Nigel Abraham Thomas (19) also clinched a race each, adding to the youthful energy at the event.

  • Formula LGB 1300: 15-year-old Bhuvan Bonu from Bengaluru won in both Open and Junior classes, emerging as a strong contender for future rounds.
  • Indian Touring Cars: Biren Pithawalla (Mumbai) denied Arjun Balu a hat-trick by winning Race-3 after Balu’s mechanical issues.
  • Indian Junior Touring Cars: Rithwik Thomas (Bengaluru) swept all three races.
  • Super Stock Class: Kesara Godage (Sri Lanka) won two races, while Krishanu Dutta Bhuyan (Guwahati) claimed one.
  • Volkswagen Polo Cup: Aman Nagdev (Noida) and Aditya Patnaik (Mumbai) shared wins, with Pratik Sonawane consistently on the podium.

Significance and Impact

This round of the championship highlighted the growing presence of young Indian drivers in motorsports. Their success not only indicates strong grassroots development in Indian racing but also reflects the potential of Indian talent in international motorsport arenas. Moreover, performances by drivers from Sri Lanka and Guwahati also underscore the event’s inclusivity and expanding reach.
