The Indian Premier League (IPL) governing council of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided that the IPL 2020 Season will be suspended till “further notice”. This decision is taken in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. The IPL was set to start on March 29 and end on May 24, but it was first postponed till April 15 after a surge of coronavirus positive cases in India.

All eight franchises were informed of the decision by IPL COO Hemang Amin. The eight franchises bought a total of 62 players spending ₹140.30 crores overall. The tournament’s stakeholders including players and the franchises will now be facing a financial setback due to the event’s suspension.
