Can Rural Women Save Tigers? Palamu’s Vanjeevi Didi Initiative Is Changing Forest Protection
Palamu Tiger Reserve has launched the Vanjeevi Didi Initiative (VDI) to empower rural women in forest and wildlife protection. The Vanjeevi Didi Initiative is the community based conservation programme rolled out across 17 forest-fringe villages. Under this initiative 18 women from each village are trained to prevent poaching, reduce deforestation and promote eco-friendly livelihoods.
