Diana Pundole: First Indian Woman Racer to Win National Championship

Diana Pundole, a teacher and mother from Pune, has made history as the first Indian woman to win the national championship in the saloon category at the MRF Indian National Car Racing Championship 2024 held in Chennai. Breakthrough Victory and Personal Sacrifice

On August 18, 2024, coinciding with her birthday weekend, Diana’s championship win was a significant milestone. To maintain her focus, her coach had temporarily taken away her cellphone, resulting in missed birthday wishes. However, this sacrifice led to a triumphant outcome, with Diana being celebrated by friends, family, and supporters once she reconnected after the race.

Overcoming Challenges

Diana’s path to success was fraught with skepticism and personal hurdles. Despite facing doubts from those questioning her place in racing—a sport often dismissive of female talent—she managed to balance her family responsibilities and racing career.
