Elon Musk Launches New Political Party in the US
Elon Musk, the billionaire businessman, has announced the launch of a new political party called the America Party. He revealed the news on his social media platform X, saying it aims to offer an alternative to the current two-party system in the United States. This comes after a recent public fallout with former US President Donald Trump, making the move even more significant.
Elon Musk posted on his platform X that a new political party, named the America Party, has been formed. He said this party would give people “back their freedom” and fight against wasteful spending and corruption. Musk referred to a poll he had earlier posted, where most users supported the idea of a new party. He claimed the current political system is broken and only benefits the powerful.
Earlier, Musk was a close supporter of Donald Trump. He even joined election rallies and was part of Trump’s administration. But their relationship turned sour when Musk left his government role in May 2025. He strongly criticized Trump’s new spending and tax plans, which Musk believes will increase the US budget deficit by more than $3 trillion. One big reason for Musk’s disappointment is that the new law offers no benefits for electric vehicles or green energy — areas Musk is deeply involved in through his company Tesla.
After Musk’s exit, Trump hit back. On his platform Truth Social, Trump mocked Musk for depending on government subsidies and hinted at investigating his companies. Trump also removed green subsidies in his “big, beautiful bill” — a new law focused on taxes and spending. He claimed Musk had gotten more government support than anyone in history. This added to the tensions between the two former allies.
As of now, the Federal Electoral Commission hasn’t confirmed if Musk’s America Party has been officially registered. It’s unclear who will lead the party or if it will take part in the next elections. Creating a new party in the US political system is very difficult, but Musk’s influence and resources could give it visibility. The public and media are watching closely to see what steps Musk will take next.
