First Hindu-American summit in US: Key Points

  • American4Hindus founder and chairman, Romesh Japra, is enthusiastic about the groundbreaking event, which will unite leaders and organisations for a political cause.
  • Although acknowledging the significant contributions of the Hindu community in various domains, Japra notes their lack of engagement in politics.

First Hindu-American summit in US: Aim

The summit aims to rectify this by assembling 130 prominent figures and leaders from 20 Hindu and Indian organisations, including Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Kevin McCarthy, and other esteemed representatives.

Why in the News?

Through their presence and words, Japra hopes to inspire active participation in politics among Hindu-American leaders and the younger generation. Japra applauds Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s global presence, which reinforces Hindu-Americans’ influence within their local communities.

An array of Congressional leaders, representing both Democrats and Republicans, will address the conference, underscoring bipartisan support and recognition of the Hindu-American community. The summit seeks to ensure that the voices of the Hindu community are heard and their issues addressed by policymakers.
