Global Conference on Space Research in Busan, South Korea
A milestone event in space exploration, the 45th Scientific Assembly of the Committee on Space Research (COSPAR) commenced in Busan, South Korea. Hosted for the first time by South Korea, the conference gathered 3,000 scientists and industry leaders from 60 nations.
Deputy Administrator Pam Melroy from NASA and Director General Hitoshi Kuninaka from JAXA were among the distinguished attendees, reflecting global interest and collaboration in space research.
Yoon Young-bin of KASA affirmed South Korea’s dedication to advancing innovative space projects and supporting its burgeoning space industry. Plans include bolstering local companies for global competitiveness and fostering peaceful international cooperation in space.
KASA outlined ambitious plans including exploration of Lagrange points like L4, development of reusable rockets, and missions to the Moon and Mars. Special exhibits showcased advanced technologies and future-oriented projects by Korean aerospace entities.
Parallel to the main event, KASA engaged in bilateral meetings with counterparts from major space agencies including the US, Japan, UAE, and China. Discussions aimed at forging new partnerships and joint research initiatives.
Korean companies like Boryung Corp. showcased plans for space healthcare solutions and joint ventures with international partners, underscoring Korea’s growing role in shaping the future of space exploration.
