Grandparents Day 2025 Date, History & Ways to Celebrate
Grandparents Day 2025 falls on Sunday, September 7, and is observed in the United States, Canada, and India. It always takes place on the first Sunday after Labor Day. Though not a federal holiday, it’s a widely recognized observance celebrating the unique bond between grandparents and their grandchildren.
The holiday was inspired by Marian McQuade, a homemaker and elder care advocate from West Virginia, who campaigned for a national day to recognize grandparents in the 1970s.
