To set up a ‘Satellite Network Portal Site’, Gujarat signed a MoU on 19th July with London-Based Company, OneWeb Company and the Department of Science and Technology.

The satellite network portal to be established in Katosan and Tejura in Jotana Taluka of Mehsana district is scheduled to be launched in 2023 with an estimated cost of over Rs.100 crore for its Phase-1. It is expected to create approximately 500 direct and indirect employment opportunities in the state.
OneWeb is a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) Satellite company with 648 satellites. The company was established by Greg Wyler in 2012 and headquartered at London, England.
OneWeb Company aims to provide cost-effective satellite connectivity services to mobile network operations and Internet service providers and to establish a global communication network. This technology is already operational in Europe and Canada.
