Haryana Declares Hansi as Its 23rd District
In a significant administrative reform, the Haryana government has officially declared Hansi as a new district, making it the 23rd district of the state. The decision came into effect following the issuance of an official government notification, with the objective of improving governance and speeding up development activities in the region.
With the new notification, Hansi has been accorded full district status. The newly created district comprises two administrative subdivisions—Hansi and Narnaund. This reorganisation is expected to reduce administrative load on Hisar district while providing Hansi region with independent district-level administration.
The notification for the creation of Hansi district was issued under the provisions of the Haryana Land Revenue Act, 1887 and the Registration Act, 1908. As per constitutional and statutory requirements, the order was approved by the Governor of Haryana, giving it formal legal validity.
The decision was taken under the leadership of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. The Haryana government stated that the creation of the new district would lead to better administrative control, improved law and order management, and balanced regional growth. The move also reflects the government’s emphasis on decentralised governance.
Hansi was earlier part of the Hisar district. Due to its growing administrative and developmental needs, the state government decided to reorganise Hisar district by carving out Hansi as a separate district. Such reorganisation is a common administrative practice aimed at ensuring better reach of governance and more focused regional planning.
Creating a new district helps bring government services closer to citizens. District-level offices play a crucial role in implementing welfare schemes, maintaining records, and ensuring law and order. With Hansi becoming a district, decision-making is expected to become faster and more responsive to local needs.
The new district status is likely to provide multiple benefits to residents of the region. These include quicker access to government offices, improved monitoring of development projects, better grievance redressal mechanisms, and more efficient implementation of state and central welfare schemes. Overall, it enhances administrative efficiency and local accountability.
