In 2022, the Directorate of Forensics Services in Junga obtained DNA profile databasing and matching technology from the United States called Smallpond TM software at a cost of Rs. 55 lakh. The database is currently being populated and organized and has a capacity of around 20,000 DNA profiles, which can be expanded as needed.
The creation of this database is a significant development for families who have been frantically searching for their missing loved ones, endlessly providing photographs and other information in the hopes of discovering their whereabouts. Assistant Director (DNA) at the Directorate of Forensic Services in Junga, Vivek Sahajpal, told the media that the DNA database will be an immense help in such cases, providing crucial details that can aid in identification.
