ICC Champions Trophy (1998-2017) – Complete History & Records
The ICC Champions Trophy is one of the most prestigious tournaments in international cricket, second only to the ICC Cricket World Cup. Often referred to as the “Mini World Cup,” the tournament featured the top-ranked teams in ODI cricket competing for the title. The Champions Trophy was held from 1998 to 2017, after which it was replaced by the ICC World Test Championship.
The ICC Champions Trophy was introduced in 1998 to generate revenue and promote cricket worldwide. Initially, it was known as the ICC KnockOut Tournament, and in 2002, it was renamed the ICC Champions Trophy.

The last ICC Champions Trophy was played in 2017, hosted by England and Wales. The final was a historic clash between arch-rivals India and Pakistan at The Oval, London.
Pakistan secured a dominant 180-run victory, marking their first-ever Champions Trophy win.
