ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024: Bangladesh Gears Up for Cricketing Extravaganza

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled the fixtures for the highly anticipated ninth ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, set to take place from 3 to 20 October in Bangladesh. The T20 World Cup 2024 will feature ten teams competing in 23 matches over 18 action-packed days. The matches will be held at two venues in Bangladesh: the Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka and the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Sylhet, providing fans with an opportunity to witness the best in women’s cricket.

Fixtures Unveiled with Fanfare

The highly anticipated fixtures were unveiled at an event in Dhaka, attended by Nazmul Hassan, President of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, Geoff Allardice, CEO of the ICC, and the captains of the Indian and Bangladeshi women’s teams, Harmanpreet Kaur and Nigar Sultana, respectively.

Prime Minister’s Blessings

In a heartwarming gesture, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina met with the two captains at her residence before the official fixture launch, offering her best wishes for a successful World Cup and highlighting the nation’s enthusiasm for hosting the prestigious event.

Opening Matches

The World Cup will kick off on 3 October with an exciting match between Bangladesh and Qualifier 2 in the evening at Dhaka. Earlier that day, the 2023 runners-up South Africa will face England in the opening match, setting the tone for the highly competitive tournament. On 4 October, fans will witness the much-anticipated clash between India and New Zealand at Sylhet.
