India Ranks 13th in QS World Future Skills Index 2027
India has secured the 13th position in the QS World Future Skills Index of 2027 and it highlights the country’s growing readiness for the artificial intelligence-driven future. The The latest report which was released by the global higher education analytics firm QS has recognizes the India as one of the strongest-performing lower-middle-income economies in preparing for the AI-led economic transformation.
The QS World Future Skills Index is the global assessment which measures how prepared countries are to capitalize the opportunities that are created by the artificial intelligence, digital technologies and emerging industries.
The 2027 edition evaluated total 89 countries through a combination of the higher education data, labor market indicators, AI readiness metrics and economic transformation measures.
The index also aims to showcases whether nations can effectively develop, attract and deploy future-ready talent in an increasingly technology-driven global economy.
India has achieved the overall score of the 89.4 out of 100 and it placing it as 13th globally.
This report describes the India as possessing “exceptional system scale” and also identifies it as one of the countries best positioned to accelerate AI-led economic growth among developing economies.

2. Academic Readiness
This indicator evaluates the strength and future orientation of the country’s higher education system.
India ranked 22nd in Academic Readiness and reflecting the both strengths in elite institutions and challenges across the broader education system.
3. Future of Work
This category measures the preparedness for AI, digital transformation and green economy transitions.
India has performed exceptionally well and ranks 5th in the world.
4. Economic Transformation
The Economic Transformation pillar also assesses how effectively economies can convert their skills into productivity, innovation, and growth.
India ranked 14th globally and it showed the strong economic potential for the leveraging technological advancements.
