India Remains Top Source for Sri Lanka Tourism in 2024
As Indians roam all around the world, recent data came out as Sri Lanka is also one of the top travel destinations for Indians in 2024. India maintained the top spot for Sri Lanka in the first 8 months of this year.
Almost 2.6 lacs Indians traveled to the island nation while 1.36 million tourists in all arrived in the first eight months of the year.
As per the data released by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, the increase in tourist arrivals in the current year to date increased by 50.7 percent as against the same period in 2023.
The latest data from the Central Bank of Sri Lanka shows that during the same period, the island nation earned 2.17 billion US dollars, which is a 66.1 percent increase from last year.
As Sri Lanka has not many resources, mainly its economy largely depend on the sector of tourism,
Sri Lankan tourism authorities have recently said that they expect three million foreign tourists in 2025 which could take the tourism industry to pre-Covid levels.
Mostly India has topped the chart, nearly on an average nearly 30000 indian tourists visit the island nation.
After that tourists from the nearby countries like China, Australia visit Sri Lanka, and European travelers also visit the Island Nation
