India Showcases Premium Mangoes in Iceland Through First-Ever Promotion Events to Boost Exports
India held its first mango production events in the Nordic region and it organized by the Embassy of India in Reykjavik and the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority(APEDA). This initiative aims to strengthen India’s presence in Northern Europe and create new opportunities for exporters. The event featured four of India’s most celebrated mango varieties such as Dasheri, Chausa, Langra and Kesar.

India showcased four internationally renowned mango varieties and each known for its distinct taste, aroma and texture.
1. Dasheri: It is popular for its sweet and smooth p[ulp which making it as one of the North India’s most widely consumed mango varieties.
2. Chausa: It is famous for the its rich sweetness and juicy nature and it highly valued in domestic and International market.
3. Langra: It is recognized for the its unique flavor, green skin even after its ripening and minimal fiber content.
4. Kesar: It is often referred to as the “Queen of Mangoes” and it is famous for the its vibrant saffron colored pulp, rich aroma and excellent sweetness.
The major theme of the event was the opportunities created by the India-EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA). Also officials from the Iceland’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs noted that the agreement could facilitate greater imports of Indian mangoes and strengthen trade cooperation between the two countries.
The trade agreement is also expected to improve market access for several Indian products and encourage greater commercial engagement.
As Iceland has a relatively small population it represents an attractive premium market for imported fruit.
