India Win SAFF Women’s Championship 2026, End Seven-Year Title Drought

Indian women football team has became the champion of SAFF Women’s Championship 2026 by defeating the Bangladesh 3-1 in Goa. This victory has ended the seven year wait for the title and it secured the sixth championship for the Blue Tigresses. After team India finished runners-up in the previous two editions, India produced the dominant tournament campaign won all the 4 matches and scored 18 goals and just conceded one goal only.

India Clinch Record Sixth SAFF Women’s Championship Title

India produced the strong all-round performance to overcome the defending champions Bangladesh in the final at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Margao in Goa.

India took the lead through Pyari Xaxa in the 42nd minute before Bangladesh has equalised through the Ritu Porna Chakma in first-half stoppage time.

India responded immediately after the half time break when Sanfida Nongrum scored in just 40 seconds into the second half.

Substitute Lynda Kom Serto added the third goal in the 82nd minute to seal a comfortable 3-1 victory.

The win helped the India to reclaim the regional crown for the first time since year 2019.
