IndiGo Names Amitabh Kant as Non-Executive Director

IndiGo, run by InterGlobe Aviation Limited, shared the news on July 3, 2025, saying that Amitabh Kant has joined its board as a Non-Executive Director. Kant is a respected former officer of the Indian government, known for his work in pushing big ideas like Make in India, Startup India, and Incredible India. He most recently worked as India’s G20 Sherpa, before stepping down last month.
Kant served as CEO of NITI Aayog for six years. He also held key positions like Union Secretary, Board Director of the National Highways Authority of India, and Member of India’s National Statistical Commission. His work has focused on innovation, development, and improving India’s image globally. He played a big part in building programs that boosted India’s economy and reputation.
Speaking on his appointment, Amitabh Kant expressed his excitement. He said, “In less than 20 years, IndiGo has changed the way people fly in India.
