The BCCI released the schedule for IPL 2023 on Friday (February 17), which will be the tournament’s 16th edition. Beginning on March 31, 2023, defending champions Gujarat Titans will face Chennai Super Kings, the four-time winners, in the opener at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.
The season will feature 10 teams and follow the same format as the previous year, with each side playing 14 league games (7 at home and 7 away). There will be a total of 74 matches in the IPL, comprising 70 league games and 4 playoff matches. This season, 18 double headers are scheduled, with the afternoon game at 3.30 PM IST and the evening match at 7.30 PM IST.
For the first time since 2019, the stadiums will have full occupancy, and fixtures will take place throughout India. Punjab Kings will play their first five home games in Mohali before moving to Dharamshala for the remaining two, whereas Rajasthan Royals will start with two home games in Guwahati before returning to Jaipur for their subsequent games.
