Khet Bachao Abhiyan–Rabi 2026: Launch Date, Objectives and Key Facts
The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare is scheduled to launch the nationwide Khet Bachao Abhiyan–Rabi 2026 on October 22, 2026, from Karnal, Haryana. Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is scheduled to launch the campaign.
The campaign is planned to run until November 30, 2026, with a focus on sustainable agriculture, soil health and the judicious use of agricultural resources. It aims to raise awareness among farmers about improved agricultural practices through training, farmer meetings and field demonstrations.
The campaign will encourage farmers to test their soil and apply fertilisers according to its nutrient status and crop requirements. Soil testing can help farmers make informed fertiliser decisions and support more efficient use of agricultural inputs.
The campaign will promote crop diversification, particularly the cultivation of oilseeds, pulses and horticultural crops. Diversification can help farmers explore alternatives to existing cropping patterns and improve the productive use of agricultural land.
Farmers will be encouraged to make appropriate use of fallow fields wherever feasible, helping improve land utilisation.
The campaign will promote proper management of crop residues as part of sustainable agricultural practices.
Awareness programmes and demonstrations will highlight natural farming methods and the use of organic and bio-based agricultural products.
The campaign is planned to reach farmers through activities at the state, district, block and Gram Panchayat levels. These activities will include:
