Itarsi plays a key role in connecting the North, South, East, and West railway routes of India.
Itarsi Junction is situated about 18 kilometers from Hoshangabad by train and 20 kilometers by road. The station is part of the West Central Railway Zone and connects to major cities like Bhopal, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai and Nagpur. Due to its central location, it plays a crucial role in railway transportation across the country.
Itarsi Junction has eight platforms and eleven tracks to manage the heavy traffic of trains. The platforms are well-maintained and provide all necessary facilities for passengers. The station also has foot overbridges for easy movement between platforms.
