Rayagada Railway Station is located in the heart of Rayagada city. It is part of the East Coast Railway Zone and serves as a major station for trains connecting Southern Odisha to other parts of India. Platform and Capacity

The station has Platform No. 3, which is the longest platform in Odisha, measuring 910 meters. It is also the 6th longest in India and the 7th longest in the world. Around 58 trains arrive and depart from this station daily, making it one of the busiest in the region.

History of the Rayagada Railway Station

The railway network in this region has a long history.

  • The Vizianagaram-Parvatipuram line (79 km) was opened in 1908-09.
  • The line was extended to Salur in 1913.
  • The Parvatipuram-Raipur line was completed in 1931.
  • The Koraput-Rayagada Rail Link Project was finished on 31 December 1998, improving connectivity further.
