India has 28 states and 8 union territories, each led by a Chief Minister (CM). The CM is the head of the state government and is responsible for governance, development and administration. The ruling political party in each state appoints the CM. Who is the Chief Minister of the State?

The Chief Minister (CM) is the elected head of a state’s government in India. Each of the 28 states and some Union Territories (Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Puducherry) have a Chief Minister. The Chief Minister is appointed by the governor and leads the state’s administration. They form policies, manage governance and oversee government officials. A CM serves as for five years but can be re-elected multiple times.
