The Maharashtra government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, is set to launch a new initiative called ‘Shasan Aplya Dari’ (government at your doorstep). The primary objective of this initiative is to provide citizens with easy access to government schemes and documents, all in one place. District administrations have been directed to organize two-day camps in their respective areas to facilitate the distribution of benefits to approximately 75,000 locals. The inaugural event for this campaign will be held in Satara district, the Chief Minister’s home district.
The ‘Shasan Aplya Dari’ initiative aims to eliminate the difficulties faced by citizens when availing government services and benefits. Often, individuals have to navigate through various bureaucratic processes and visit multiple offices to access the schemes they are entitled to. This new drive seeks to simplify the process by bringing the government directly to the people’s doorsteps.

To ensure efficient coordination among officials involved in the initiative, a dedicated cell has been established in the Chief Minister’s office. This cell will facilitate seamless communication and streamline the implementation of the campaign. The government aims to address the challenges faced by citizens, including lack of awareness and inconvenience, by providing them with comprehensive assistance through this initiative.
District administrations across Maharashtra have been entrusted with the responsibility of organizing two-day camps within their respective jurisdictions. These camps will serve as centralized hubs where citizens can avail the benefits of various government schemes and obtain necessary documents. The target for the inaugural campaign is to provide benefits to around 75,000 locals in Satara district.
District collectors have been granted the authority to utilize funds allocated to different departments, such as agriculture, rural development, social justice, tribal development, skill development, and school education, to facilitate the organization of the camps. Additionally, funds from the Member of Legislative Assembly Local Area Development Scheme (MLALAD) and the district planning and development committee (DPDC) can also be utilized for this purpose.
The ‘Shasan Aplya Dari’ initiative follows in the footsteps of previous government initiatives aimed at engaging with citizens. The Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi government conducted a program called ‘Janata Darbar,’ where ministers would meet people on a weekly basis to address their concerns. Similarly, the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance government during 1995-99 had a similar program named “Sarkar Aplya Dari.” These programs aimed to provide immediate resolutions to citizens’ issues, and the new initiative is expected to build upon their success.
