Malayalam Actor and Mimicry Artiste Kalabhavan Navas Passes Away at 51
The Malayalam film industry mourns the untimely demise of Kalabhavan Navas, a popular actor and mimicry artiste, who passed away on August 1, 2025, at the age of 51. He was found unresponsive in his hotel room in Chottanikkara, where he was staying for the shoot of the upcoming film Prakambanam. Despite being rushed to a private hospital, he was declared dead on arrival.
According to initial police reports, Navas may have suffered a cardiac arrest. A post-mortem examination is scheduled at the Government Medical College Hospital, Kalamassery, to confirm the cause of death.
Hotel staff reported that Navas had not checked out at the expected time. On entering his room, they found him unconscious. Authorities confirmed that no suspicious materials were found at the scene.
Navas rose to fame through mimicry, a performance art beloved in Kerala. He honed his skills with the Cochin Kalabhavan troupe, earning the prefix ‘Kalabhavan’, a title shared by several celebrated artists from the same group. His voice imitations and dynamic stage presence made him a household name across the state.
