Neelkanth Mishra Appointed India’s Next Executive Director at the World Bank

The Government of India has named Neelkanth Mishra as the India’s next Executive Director at the World Bank. He is widely regarded as one of the India’s leading economists and he brings the extensive experience in the economic policy, financial markets and research. His move also reflects the India’s growing influence in the international economic decision-making.

Neelkanth Mishra Appointed Executive Director at the World Bank

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Neelkanth Mishra as the India’s next Executive Director at the World Bank headquarters in the Washington, D.C.

He will serve as the three-year term from the date he will assumes the office.

In this role, Mishra will represent the South Asian constituency comprising the,

  • Sri Lanka

He will succeed the Parameswaran Iyer who has been serving as the Executive Director since February 2023. To ensure a smooth transition the Government of India has extended the Iyer’s tenure until Mishra formally assumes office.
